The scope is the constant update on developments in the field of its expertise and thereby to ensure and promote national interests in issues of geographic interest.

In particular, HMGS participates in:

  • The State Geodetic and Geophysics Committee,

  • The integrated European Geo profiling and Altimeter Network (EUREF-UELN),

  • The NATO and European Army bodies,

  • Eurogeographics, and more specifically:

    • EuroGlobalMap (EGM), (1:1.000.000 map)

    • EuroRegionalMap (ERM), (1:250.000 map)

    • EuroBoundaryMap (EBM), (1:100.000 map)

    • EuroDEM

    • EuroGeonames,

    • State Boundaries of Europe,

  • UN Committees, such as the Geonames Committee and the Global Geodata Management Committee.,

  • The following international cartocraphic data coproduction projects:

    • Multinational Geospatial Data Coproduction Program (MGCP)

MGCP Production of digital geodata in vector format of 1:50000 or 1:100000 range in regions of interest for which there are no sufficient geospatial data. HMGS is in charge of producing 12 cells for the Western Balkans region. The program was launched in 2012 and will be completed in 2022-23.

    • TanDEM-X High Resoloution Data Exhanging (TREX) Program.
