HMGS actively participates (through physical presence on a case-by-case basis) in national
committees, international scientific cartographic forums and committees at UN, NATO and
EU level. The scope is the constant update on developments in the field of its expertise and
thereby to ensure and promote national interests in issues of geographic interest.
In particular, HMGS participates in:
MGCP
Production of digital geodata in vector format of 1:50000 or 1:100000 range
in regions of interest for which there are no sufficient geospatial data. HMGS
is in charge of producing 12 cells for the Western Balkans region. The
program was launched in 2012 and will be completed in 2022-23.
TREX
Development of a Digital Ground Model (DTM) that will be globally covered
by satellite images radar with 12 meters accuracy. HMGS is in charge of the
Southern Balkans region, Greece, Cyprus and the production of 32 cells for
the China-Mongolia region. The program was launched in 2017 and will be
completed in 2020.
